Or... I could make it a cost 0 artifact with ETB and LTB triggers ;)
I intend this as "Trigger ETB effects" really; I kinda expect it to not trigger LTB ones. I know that the "target creature" works as intended; but it seems likely to be rejected as "This will confuse most people, and even after it stops confusing them they'll hate it"
The explicitness is already made clear by the use of the bare word "creature" rather than "creature card".
And would this call for a new rule, analogous to 400.8, that says moving a card from battlefield to battlefield makes it a new object? If so, this is functionally identical to a flicker effect (unless you have some weird card like Goatcloud Stranger going on).
So hey, unsummon is surprisingly abusable with ETB triggers. Let's focus on that, and save the cost of recasting, shall we?
Not so helpful on the defence, mind you. (Also, despite being small and simple, probably unprintable at common; due to "I target this creature in my hand! Graveyard! Deck!" Maybe adding the explicit "Target creature on the battlefield" but then you hit the whole "But, uh, why bother?" barrier.)
Yeah; I figured this was a halfway between Control Magic and Clone which are both CMC4, and the flexibility and upside roughly make up for the downside. A kick you can never afford isn't a huge discount, but maybe it needs something.
Heh. Fun. Could probably be a lot cheaper (this is the cost of Rite of Replication, after all). No use for killing legends, but gives you some potentially useful ETB/LTB effects.
Inspired by the 'Resourceful' mechanic in New Mirrodin. (Though boomerang is probably a lot more practical)
Hmm. I don't think Spark of Life works, since the game doesn't check to see if they die in the middle of the spell resolution. I suppose you could get wacky and instead have, "Then put on the stack a token instant that reads "All cards turned into creatures by cards named 'Spark of Life' return to being artifacts."
it's a rabbit, allegedly
I didn't know that existed; I was trying to stick with the cycle.
I mean, really, I ought to reuse the original text from THE ELEPHANT. Which was something like:
When you play ~, all creatures die. All lands die. All artifacts die. And then all graveyards are exiled, and the exile zone is set on fire. The mere presence of ~ in your deck causes you opponents eyeballs to melt.
(This is not the greatest creature in the world, this is just a tribute)
At this point you've just reconcepted AEther Flash. Surely you can burninate more of the things than that.
Can't think what (((Floodination))) should do, so went with the canonical one. Darkenation is the start of the cycle.
Hmm, so it does. Wonder why I thought it didn't. I guess this one splats any non-damage combat effects; but most of them are tied to damage so meh. Ah well.
Actually, Holy Day works pretty well with first strikers too.
Holy Day... unless first strike is involved.
