Personally I'd try to choose a different ability; it is possible to have a range of nasty abilities without quite so blatantly locking your opponents out of the game. Vitenka does have a fair point, though. (Although I'd note that Iona, Shield of Emeria, a somewhat similar card, was reanimated a lot more than she was cast.)
seems like four separate mashed together to fit the colors of the card. not to mention fun factor is in the negative. all dick cards should have an out. even vorinclex can be played around. zur's weirding affects all players; with Honden it's a two-card combo.
On flip side; this IS an 8 cost 8 power creature. I mean, sure - if you can't deal with it immediately; you can't ever deal with it. But if you can't deal with it, how much longer is the game gonna go on anyway?
This isn't going to be fun no matter what the cost. Vorinclex is quite easy to deal with. If you don't already have a way of dealing with this, you never will.
That is true; but this was designed for that sort of "dickbaggery" player; I could re-balance it a little higher on the cost (3 perms; 3 cards; or 5 life?)
But that won't help unless you already have the multi-draw card available at the moment the opponent cast this, because you can bet this thing's controller will prevent you drawing any more of them. And okay, the white Honden isn't available, but there are any number of things that do work, including the green or blue Hondens with any other out.
That is somewhat what I was going for. I wanted a big, EDH friendly trigger ability that is huge and splashy but worth the 7 mana (and four colors)
But at the same time I didn't want to to be to similar to the other four designs. This card was more designed for "me" based on how i play magic (ETB all the things!)
Honden is'nt legal in this guys EDH deck :D Also, this only effects the first card they would draw; with EDH's tenacity to draw more then one card a turn, I think its fair.
There's being a nasty card, and then there's Zur's Weirding, famous for making people never gain any more cards at all in conjunction with anything like Honden of Cleansing Fire.
To me, it... feels very glue-gun, very Chinese menu. I mean, yes, it is clearly 4-coloured; but there's nothing about this effect that couldn't have had a black effect added in too. It's like Last Stand without the black.
Now, it's actually a bit more interesting than that, because it encourages you to play with cards that are as many of those colours as possible. Marisi's Twinclaws and Messenger Falcons would be ideal.

I know :D Every big cycle like this needs to have one REALLY nasty card; for example _ Vorinclex; of the Paretor cylce. They are all pretty nasty, but Vorinclex is just a dick. Or Slyvan Primordial/Prime Time, etc...
one of the 5 is always just, a DICK.
That last ability is just nasty and unfun, especially with so many options for payment.
...seems weak? and a little expensive?
Maybe drop down to 1UUBBGR ; harder double cost; but less expensive (not that it matters in EDH by that much.) Thinking also about making it a 6/8 instead; but I feel like the 8 - power better encompasses the power of a Archlich.
I think, of the 4-color legendaries I've designed; this one is my favorite; and best balanced.
I'm thinking of changing this to trample and lifelink, instead of trample and first strike.
Opinions?
lol, I was to lazy to copy my explanation over from the MTGCommander forums; so I short-formed it here. :D
...Okay, when you put it that way that seems pretty reasonable.
I changed it a bit more, its now its more like Long-Term Plans in function, but is still revealed. (im still debating that one) but most modern tutors do reveals.
ok, then. PW it is. and i added "may"
Sorry, I forgot to say "put the card into your hand" which helps it become blue.
Flying, is white and blue, some black. First strike is white and red, some black.
the trigger is a life-steal ability; coupouled with pseudo-draw; which is white/black and blue. the red is the fact that it needs to attack to work.
Why other than planeswalker? Since it's not even tutoring the cards into hand (and this is a 4-colour mythic legend) I think it'd be fine to make it walkers if you wanted. It's annoying that it doesn't stack if multiple creatures die the same turn.
Seems overly white and red, and insufficiently blue and black. Of course, it's practically impossible to make a cycle of 4-colour cards that are all strongly in their precise 4-colour pair, so don't worry about it too much.
