Concept was that this ancient dragon has slept on his hoard of Flamespark Manastones for so long that they have "grown in" to his hide. Strenuous activity - such as combat - can sometimes dislodge trhese stones which are far more powerful than regular manastones.
Ah, one thing my handling of ~ doesn't do is the Legend second-mention rule, where on second and subsequent times that a Legend mentions itself, it only gives the name and not anything after the comma. (See Kozilek, Butcher of Truth and assorted others.)
MSE doesn't make any special dispensation for repeated use of ~ on legends, but does provide another symbol @ as shorthand for LEGENDNAME.
