Arguably yes, but by going 2-color it helps reign in the access to and and rate of potential ramp. It also makes the +2/+2 more justified; we don’t seem to see “+2/+2 and ability for 2” (i.e. Goblin War Paint effects) in green as much as we do in red these days.

The two abilities (pt buff and tapping for mana) are at odds with each other :/ I would try to come up with some way to tie the two abilities together (untapping lands on attack or whatever). I also find the mana ability too weak compared to the buff.

Ooh, I like that untap clause. Is it too good on turn 2 though? Trying it at 3 CMC.
