Random Generator shot out Jayemdae Tome and Mana Short. Mana Short again? I wonder what the odds of getting the same spell twice is? Actually, I was wondering what the odds of getting the same spell twice at the same time, but even after 500 swings, that's got to be very odd. I remember hearing a podcast on RadioLab where a statistics proffesor bets against his class of 30 students that there will be a duplicate birthday among two students in the room. 1 in 29 out of 365, then 1 in 28, then 1 in 27 and so on is evidently likely to give you a duplicate, so what would the odds be here? (Note: Possibly a Rhetorical Question)
Oooo. Interesting card. Possibly too good: it's a free extra card if you've already spent your mana. But it's only one mana off the cost of Honden of Seeing Winds.
Hm, very similar to Well of Discovery. Particularly now that mana burn doesn't exist.
Yeah, I knew there was a card out there that did something similar in Prophecy, but I didn't want to check the card out in case it would influence design. I agree, this does seem good. I'd compare it to Bottled Cloister as well, except Hellbent doesn't turn on, and you get to choose not to do it. Oh, and shattering it doesn't destroy your hand.
It may be too good, but only the Honden saw regular play in tournaments, so I'll let it pass. Plus, it would be hard to imagine the card being anything else with that mashup, without getting too crazy.
On second thought, I better up this to . I remember playtesting a card from a much older set I designed. It cost , Had : To Disrupting Scepter a person, and if it was untapped at end of turn, you drew a card. It was too good, and crept into even the creature rush decks... had to jump it to . This card obv. doesn't have that one's functionality, but it sure does push the envelope.
Activate it 30 times in a row...what could possibly go wrong?
Ha! Good point. I could only imagine if they printed this card, and someone was in a game, and this dawned on him; each time, expecting something terrible to happen... Editing now.
