At first, I tried "Sac three white creatures, exile target black permanent." I like that card, and it is much, much cleaner, but You don't recognize the Forgemaster in that version, and I wanted both cards to be identifiable. While this version is a bit more restrictive, it does lead to some interesting deckbuilding decisions, so that's kind of cool.

I think the first deckbuilding decision is "Darkest Hour or Shifting Sky?"

What a goofy card. I'd pass, and let cleaner cards shine, but this set needs more cards that make the 'white machine' theme relevant. To help that theme along, I changed 'sacrifice three creatures' back to 'sacrifice three artifacts', which, admittedly, is normally tougher. At least if you're making white machine the right way, though, it will give you more options...

Man, I want this to work, but it just doesn't. Not that I can't see this card being printed... it's just that Alhap needs a normal creature in the 5 drop rare slot, and this card isn't getting there. Switched the must with 'must, if able' to make the card more generally useable... though, I admit, I can barely see the Lightcaster at that point.
