Okay, so is vanguard any different to:
Lure (This creature must be blocked if able.)?
not quite. defender doesn't have to block. but if he does, vanguard creatures must be blocked before other attackers.
Ah, the "must" seemed to make it mandatory to block these.
Alternative reminder text: (Non-Vanguard creatures you control cannot be blocked unless all attacking vanguard creatures you control are blocked.)
Though, to be honest, I didn't misinterpret the mechanic when I first read it. I got it when I read it, then reflected on what the word 'Vangaurd' meant. I wonder if it's more difficult for people who don't happen to know that word?
