These would be must have for mono-colored EDH decks. Though maybe that's not necessarily (that) bad.

Yeah, big time. They are intended to be an attraction toward monocolor decks in standard, so even if we go with a weaker version (say, 4 basic Swamps) they'd probably be long-time COMM staples.
