This is extremely efficient for its cost, especially since the activated ability has no mana cost and can be activated the turn this ETBs.

is that okay? Not sure if you are giving a compliment , or constructive criticism... I didn't think 4 damage for 2 mana is THAT efficient... I thought it was just normal.

Lightning bolt does 3 for 1 mana, and Goblin grenade does 5 for 1 and sac a creature... I assumed 4 for 2 was pretty reasonable...

I know this is an artifact, but it isn't renewable ability (that would be op xD)

Lightning Bolt and Goblin Grenade are amongst the most powerful burn spells of all time, though. So yes, this is comparable to the "normal" defined by the most powerful spells of all time. If that's what you're going for, then that's fine, but be aware this is possibly playable in Legacy/Vintage burn decks and would certainly drive a number of mono-red or heavy-red decks in Standard.

Some other comparisons: Shrapnel Blast was very strong in Standard even though it costs 2 and it's a 1-for-2, like Goblin Grenade. Char was played in Standard even though it costs 3 and damages you as well. Flame Javelin saw occasional Standard play even costing {r}{r}{r}-or-{2}{r}{r}. Violent Eruption was Standard-playable back in the day as well, costing {1}{r}{r} plus needing a discard outlet. Stoke the Flames, Pyrotechnics, even Lightning Blast, all tournament-level. I will note that many of those are instant speed, which this isn't, exactly, but not only is this cheaper than basically all of them, it can sit on the table until you need it.

So yes, this would be entirely reasonable at {2}{r}. At {r}{r} it's very strong and will definitely get played in Standard and probably older formats, but that might be okay. Note that it's the flexibility to hit either players or creatures that's attracting the attention: for creatures-only you've got Flame Slash and for players-only you've got Flames of the Blood Hand and Boros Charm (both also played in tournaments).

Okay so {2}{r} is good, i will go with that.

Thanks for the long feedback! I dont know very many cards, and am not much for reading the mtg news, so this is all very helpful! Thanks for all the attention :D

I think this would be "safer" at either 4 CMC or dealing only 3 damage for the cost. Something to keep in mind is that permanents are much easier to recur and reuse than nonpermanents.

3 for 3 it is :D id rather it be small, then big, as it is just a gem, not anything like a bolt of thunder :P
