Oh! That's a good variant on hexproof/indestructible. On the flip side - putting it on a vigilant creature is just disgustingly painfully efficient, and would need to be costed close to invulnerability I fear.
Wouldn't it just be simpler to say "Prevent all combat damage dealt to this creature"?
I like this ability too. That said, I'd like to point out that Darksteel Myr exists, and is an acceptable card in its own right. And while Invincible isn't quite Indestructible, it can be pretty close in a number of matchups.
I think a better comparison is Darksteel Sentinel. Without flash, this should still probably cost five mana.
It's not quite as good; as it, well, "Dies to removal" as the phrase goes. So you'd need to know the environment to know how good this really was.
But it's sure pretty close to that. And you do get a bit of a discount for being gold; so 5 is probably about right. Maybe 4.
So 3 feels very pushed.
Which is a shame; it's a really nicely flavoured ability.
Oh, right. Perhaps we should be comparing this card to Cho-Manno, Revolutionary and Dawn Elemental. There's been a little power creep since those cards first appeared, so that should be taken into consideration. But I'm also thinking 4 cost would still make this a bruiser of a card.
Considering Everdawn Champion maybe it's ability should be invicible?
> Invincible (Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt to this creature.)
Why does this have
in the mana cost btw? Invincible and vigilance are both very
but have nothing to do with
.
I can well see "Invincible" being a red ability. Especially with that "other creatures" caveat. It's just asking for creatures that set themselves on fire and have it.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's a Boros themed soldier guy.
Vitenka hit it on the head. Boros soldier d00d.
Invincible is supposed to defend against combat damage and certain creature tap abilities, since flavor-wise the idea is that the creature in question can’t be beaten in a fight (duh). “Cheap shots” like casting lightning bolt (or any other noncreature removal spell) on it or using tap abilities outside of combat (IE when the creature is not on the battlefield and prepared to fight) will still hurt an invincible creature because they’re not part of the contest of battle, and the creature only excells in that circumstance.
