So why doesn't this - and others of its cycle in corresponding manner - cost {2/g}{2/g}{2/g}? There's no reason to beat around the bush when playing with colorless hybrid. Looking at them, I would say Flame Javelin would be more of a color bend - even that deathtoucher would not be a Wurmcoil Engine that's for sure.

Because the cycle is intended exclusively for decks that are primarily of their color, and aren't supposed to be playable in, for instance, Bg. Also because we're trying to keep down on having a bunch of mono twobrid cards at lower rarities, for aesthetic reasons (Shadowmoor/Eventide went a little crazy with HHHHH costs, we're aiming for something between SHM and RAV levels of use).
