Just a pity that Blightning doesn't keep up the two-and-two theme, or it'd be a perfect reversal of this.

­Blightning is rather strong so you could easily print a strictly worse version of it without any problems. Still would be better in limited than Skull Rend.

Also you could think of blightning in terms of two colors in cost -> 2 damage, cmc 3 -> deals 3.
