Would be a better phys-rep if it fetched the plains from somewhere instead.

Just give it plainscycling.

Free landscycling is a little too powerful.

This is the exact same thing.

It really isn't. The landsoul cycle doesn't enter untapped, doesn't enable graveyard shenanigans, thin your deck or fetch nonbasic lands (all of which are too powerful to be free).

Landcycling doesn't enter tapped, the deck thinning doesn't matter, and you could just make it basic landcycling. Your comment about free landcycling makes me think this is too powerful if it doesn't cost mana.

The point is, even ignoring graveyard shenanigans, thinning one's deck and fetching nonbasic lands, I feel these creatures are more balanced with an enters tapped clause than without, which is why landcycling wouldn't work as well.
