Does the counter protection text work properly?

Yeah, that's good.

It should be "can't be countered by spells or abilities".

What? No it shouldn't. It's a creature spell. Uncounterability only has the "by spells or abilities" text if it's something that can still be countered by the rules of the game, i.e. by having an illegal target, i.e. if it's an Aura spell or a targeted instant or sorcery. See the Return to Ravnica cycle: Abrupt Decay, Slaughter Games and Counterflux were targeted so had the "by spells or abilities" rider, but Supreme Verdict was untargeted and Loxodon Smiter was a creature spell so neither of them needed the extra words.
