A GobArts design by Ipaulsen and Ben
Interestingly, Jack parallel-designed Illusory Fire a couple of months ago.
Still a fun idea. Though, I must admit that Unsummon is far better than this spell in one respect (bounces for cheap) and Char is much worse than this spell in another (dealing damage to opponents).
Maybe you could get more oomf out of this spell if you increased the number of targets?
Saw the Table

Deal 3 damage to all creatures. If a creature dealt damage would die this way this turn, return it to its owner's hand instead.
That might technically be too good, but you get the idea (I'd gladly play it if it only did 2 damage, or was a sorcery. Heck, there are many decks where both 2 damage and sorcery would still be better than Pyroclasm.)
That's even closer to Jack's Illusory Fire. I agree that it's probably better if this can only damage creatures; though I guess it'd be interesting if the red burn deck of the format had to splash blue for its Flames of the Blood Hand.
Boros Charm got to deal 4 damage alongside other modes. I think it's fair that this could do the same.
Hm. Good point.
this a) represents the magic trick better b) wors in the blue colorless theme AND the red token theme. A won all around.
The flavor is really cute, but why limit this to your creatures?
Maybe you're right. It's just you don't typically saw in half a member of the audience (plus I don't like how good that is against Sorba 0-power creatures).
Well, flavor can't shared be perfect. Without knowledge of your themes I would say a version that could act as removal would be in line with spells like Pongify and Reality Shift.
