CardName: Crowdscorching Cost: 1UR Type: Sorcery Pow/Tgh: / Rules Text: Buyback {1}{U}{R} (You may pay an additional {1}{U}{R} as you cast this spell. If you do, put this card into your hand as it resolves.) Choose two target creatures. Crowdscorching deals 4 damage to one of them at random. Flavour Text: Set/Rarity: Dorado Uncommon |
Code: UZ08 History: [-] |
The "at random" clause hopefully makes this weaker, as you need at least two creatures to target and eventually one of them is going to be yours. If it's too powerful, I'll probably modify it to "choose target creature you control and target creature you don't control" or something.
Without the buyback it would be fine. If you're set on using buyback I think the cost might need to increase.
Well... hmmm... Flame Slash only costs
, and this card (without buyback) is clearly worse than Flame Slash. I agree that you got to be cautious with buyback, but this one might be fine.
Personally, when I'm costing a card with buyback, I like to think of the card as an enchantment with activated abilities, and then try to determine if that sounds fair. So in this case:
Crowdscorching

: Choose two target creatures. Crowdscroching deals 4 damage to one of them at random. Sorcery speed.

, Sacrifice ~: Choose two target creature. Crowdscorching deals 4 damage to one at random. Sorcery speed.
Enchantment
Uncommon
That ain't perfect, I know. The
cost kinda messes with the head. But it seems like a reasonable enough enchantment to me.
