Someone once asked me to make a card based on a song title, and...well, you fill in the blank. Or better yet, just leave it blank.

:) It's surprisingly surprising to see an empty text box. I wonder what the shortest existing text box is (other than full-art vanilla creatures); it has to be short rules text with no flavour text (or, I suppose, vice versa), which is fairly rare as they usually put flavour text on.

Day of Judgment is 3 words with a deservedly sparse text box, but I don't know if they've printed any vanilla or french vanilla creatures without flavour text.

TSB Lightning Angel is also 3 words and no flavor text, but comes in just longer at 24 characters against 22. 4-5-6E Armageddon is shorter still, but the reigning champ for shortest text box on record (other than basic lands with big mana symbols) goes to the Revised Blessing, which simply reads "{w}: +1/+1". It's a wonder anyone learned to play the game with cryptic abilities like that.

This would have made me laugh out loud if I weren't in a library.

It looks like I never mentioned how much I enjoyed this card either, so let me just say: I enjoyed this card a lot.

Time Stop's number of characters beats Armageddon's. Assuming, of course, that you don't count the reminder text.

As for counting French Vanilla... I guess it's any card with just 'Echo'. You know, like on Goblin Patrol. Time Spiral echo cards added a mana cost, though, so I'm not sure how to count that.

Wake the Reflections has the shortest rules text of a nonpermanent, I think.

Right now, the shortest nonreminder rules text in Dominia is Giant Mantis.

"Fear" is one character shorter than "Reach" (as well as "Flash" and "Haste"), so Razortooth Rats should win out on that front.

Counting everything in the text box, the 10th Edition foil version of Time Stop was indeed printed with nothing but its rules text, so that one's right up there near Revised Blessing.

Hm, nobody thought of the Future Sight vanillas with no text box at all, like Blade of the Sixth Pride. Though I suppose no text box at all isn't the same as an empty text box...
