That's a HUGE upgrade on counterspell, especially without a "nonland" clause.
I'd play this in every one of of my blue decks even if it didn't counter spells.
Yeah, no kidding. I might even play it if it cost , with that kind of versatility. It deals with practically ANYTHING.
Ok so I need to up the cost a little and add a non-land clause. I should've caught that.
Why not just go crazy at this point and write "Put target spell or nonland permanent on the bottom of its owner's library?" It's already quite a high power level, so why not push it even more?
Mainly because it's Damn close the the ability on Venser, Shaper Savant. I guess I could make it a signature spell for him though.
I like this a lot, but I think it's much too strong as-is. If it's a counterspell tweak, it probably needs to be one or both modes return to hand. If "on the bottom of the library" is important, it probably needs to be dual coloured, "on the bottom of the library" is usually better removal than "exile", so this is "a better Unmake, or a Cancel" which blue shouldn't get?
This is Spin into Myth but cheaper and much more flexible. There have been arguments about whether Spin into Myth is valid within blue's colour pie or not; I don't recall a clear conclusion.
Spin into Myth seems like an example of the Peculiar Distortion family. My Melvin side loves it, but I need to train my Melvin side that there are limits on what a card can do by itself, more than what individual sentences on a card can do :) I think that's "ok-for-time-spiral", not "ok" :)
(I'm not sure if it should be blue. "On the bottom of the library" does feel blue, but I think it's important for balance than blue have to rely on bounce and bad-auras for removal.)
Heh, yep, Spin into Myth was mentioned over on Peculiar Distortion two years ago. And Maro has said that something like my Kamahl, Beastmaster would not be printable, even though each line on it is individually green.
Hasn't super-bounce been shifted from white to blue? If blue doesn't tuck to the bottom, who does?
Oh, hm, you're right. http://archive.wizards.com/Magic/magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/mm/255
But I think "bottom" is different, see this search, there's very few examples, but I think they're all white, and I think some are more recent than the "top of library" change, but I'm not sure. At any rate, even if it's blue, it probably needs to be expensive.
When creating this I had in mind that it would go into a set with a high amount of search across the colors. But I think that changing it to putting the card on the top of the library is workable.
Card was----
Card was----Dismissive Magic 2UU --- Instant Choose one – • Counter target spell. • Put target non-land permanent on the bottom of it's owners library.
You powered this up when you made the change. Even if this said "nonland" still, I would guess it would need to cost at least more.
Ok another tweak. I kept the name change and the increased cost but put the former text back on it.
