Should this be legendary? Should it always ETB tapped?

At the moment it's strictly better than Island, so it probably does need one or the other.

On further thought, I don't think I can make a version that wouldn't be restricted in some way. At least not one that makes colored mana. Unlike a card such as Minamo, School at Water's Edge, legendary isn't exactly a problem for this particular effect!

Mmmmayyybe. This is stonkingly powerful with the bounce lands.

Hmm. This is a replacement effect. Aren't there rules issues with allowing mana payments in replacement effects? You're converting the action of "playing a land" into something that can allow activating mana abilities such as Chromatic Sphere's or Thermopod's or Deranged Assistant's.

I don't see very much point in making this ETBT, rather than just charging an extra {1} in the cost, anyway, so you could make this just "When ~ ETBs" to avoid the rules weirdness.
