I'm not sure myself. I think it's worth noting that Wizards hasn't printed a card that untaps itself for free after 2002, though I'm unsure why, myself. In theory, it infinitely comboes with cards that say "When you tap a creature..." But as far as I know, Wizards has never printed a card that says exactly that. Odd.

I guess there are a lot of tap abilities that get much better when you can stack them? This card kind-of functions like a Clone effect, which is very powerful at low CMCs.

Thanks, was hoping to have some mild tribal elements sprinkled through the set (think Cavalry Pegasus) and this does a good job of making the flavor feel better - he can only do good deeds for fellow Humans because he doesn't know how to help other creatures - while adding a subtle direction towards a draft archetype.

I've also got a talent for retroactively justifying my decisions.

­Tidewater Minion was printed in 2005, and it untaps itself for free, so there's that. Then again, 5 mana is a lot more than 1 or 2.

The relevant combos here are Wake Thrasher and Mesmeric Orb.
