Yes. I tend to design my cards before looking at similar things already printed. It keeps my creativity high and lets me see how close my designs are to whats already done.

+2/+2 for only {1} seems like a big jump.

It is. Is there a better cost for this that will allow it to still be rare, while not being bested by Phantasmal Dragon?

I'm not sure this is a good idea for a rare, really. When Phantasmal Dragon is uncommon, going bigger isn't really going to help - it just makes your huge beatstick even more swingy (luck-dependent).

True. Both rely on luck to work (as do all in this cycle of Illusions). Does this work for filling the not so good rare slot for a set?
