The effect is fine but I don't like the fact that this is an elf. Core sets don't usually have that much tribal synergy and 1/4 of the green creatures in this set are elves. You didn't have any of the other creatures used in the lord cycle and green is already fairly decent in limited. Why so much support?

Never mind what I said about not having a lord cycle (only briefly glanced before having to leave), you should try to balance the number of creatures of these types in the set. black has 9 vampires, white has 7 knights, red has 6 goblins, green has 6 elves, yet blue only has 4 merfolk?

Creature type balance is something I'll look at once I know I like the cards that are in.

So it only searches for basics and it comes into play tapped, and in return gets +1/+1? Honestly I think Wood Elves could have been just fine here.

Basic removed, because it won't matter in the card pool I'll be using this in. Personally I think this is more powerful than Wood Elves, but I also think Borderland Ranger is more powerful than Sylvan Ranger, and I seem to be alone on that one.
