I can't help asking why isn't the watermark just put as the background to the div that contains the rules and flavor text? I assume there's a reason, but if it were possible, it would easily solve this issue.
I know that was my original approach. I think there were problems with the javascript that resizes text to make it fit. I think I've been back to the code once or twice and thought "why isn't this just a background image?", and made it so, and encountered the problem again and gone "oohh, that's why it isn't".
But I should give this another look.
Is it a possibility then to eat least, y'know, layer the text on top of the image instead of the other way around?
Hmmm. I'm sure I tried that before too, but at the moment, it seems like giving the rulestext or rulestextwrapper position:relative and z-index:2 seems to work fine.
I'll make that change and see if we can find any problems with it.
Argh! The fix seems to work locally, but I'm encountering unrelated difficulties when trying to push it up to Heroku :/
fixed
There you go. Let me know if you see any other oddnesses around watermarks, or around text box resizing.
I think what I tried before was position:absolute, which would have had significant other problems; position:auto doesn't allow z-index to apply; but position:relative seems to hit the sweet spot in between.
Lovely. Seems to work fine!
