I'm not sure pumping a blocker really counts as red; I'm hoping I can squeak it with "the set's less aggressive than normal".

I'm also not a fan of the name.

It occurs that this is very similar to Quick Reflexes: both let a blocker kill something else, without any extra survivability (modulo first strike), and both aren't any good on attack.

Huh. It's probably also worth noting that Wizards clearly don't think the defensive nature of this card makes it unprintable: just check out Furious Resistance :)

Good points, Alex. Maybe I should reprint Furious Resistance. It's rather a lot of reprints, though... and that and Searing Spear are both quite recent. But maybe I can get away with one of them if I change the other.
