It's tricky. I was trying to think of some good 'evil doctor' abilities, but had a hard time coming up with anything new. This ability, though, at least supports the 'play as many cards with the same name' theme that's running through the set. It's more a green ability... but with the amount of Legendary creatures hanging around in the set, I'm hoping the black nature of this comes through (I couldn't heal your daughter. So I made you a new one. Have fun.) I'm sure it's broken with some three card combo. That's fine. I'm a bit concerned about how this works with cards like Avenging Angel, but since it only acts like 'indestructibility' with most of those cards, I think I'm cool with it. I also gave it that first ability (each player discards a card) so you can sacrifice multiple doctors as they come into play, if that's what you want to do (while still giving him a feel of 'nobody likes this guy.')

While brainstorming for abilities, I did come up with this one:

{5}, Skip your next turn: End the turn.

Which I thought was kind of cool... but it's obviously too blue. Maybe later.

Seeing this card again, I couldn't help but noticed that the second ability was a Green ability, no matter how I wanted the ability to play out. So, this is my second attempt at the evil doctor. This time, he replaces your loved ones with not-as-healthy Shades. Also supports the clean graveyard theme, so that's nice.

Changed from -1/-1 to -1/0 so this feels more like Animate Dead and less like Persist. I kind of wish there was a black ability that was both positive and negative that I could slap on. Shadow would work well here, but... you know...

Please don't let shadow come back.

Persist would be more modern and fit the theme well; but I do like the call back to Animate Dead.

for the avoidance of confusion "Whenever another non-token..."?

This is pretty mighty. But I guess it doesn't actually do anything much on its own, isn't easy to use as a trick (though wow, the combos with sacrifice are scary - every sacrifice card gets a second use...) and it does cost six.

Nice card! Though I keep reading "Hendrix, Morlock Doctor" and wondering how I missed that mash-up.

Actually, I intended to let Thendrix make a shade of himself if he wants. Though, now that you mention it, I wonder how confusing that is. Feels like I'm stuck between "Players won't expect it" and "More upside, please."

As an aside, I technically didn't have to say 'non-token', since you can't exile tokens in the graveyard. But, that'd be confusing, n'est pas?
