Weird, huh? Originally this said "When this creature dies", off the idea that this is a great creature early, but no one wants to draw it again after round 3. But it occurred to me that I couldn't have a common creature that cost {w}, since all (unless I do something weird) common creatures are Glornican, and all the Glornican creatures are multicolored. 'If it leaves the battlefield' is a pretty strong drawback, though, making it vulnerable to bounce and blink.

Changed from common to uncommon. I might change it back if I think there's enough strong first turn answers in common, though.

That's not a real drawback. This shouldn't be better than Elite Vanguard or Norwood Ranger. (Well, it can be better than the Ranger, but it makes a symmetric analysis.)

Also, something's weird with the frame.

Frame fixed. Using IE at work. I have no idea how things look.

It is better than Elite Vanguard, but Elite Vanguard is no longer the gold standard. Have you seen Dryad Militant yet? Evidently 2/1 with a relevant ability is printable in {g/w} now. This is a very minor drawback, but it's worse in some matchups than the Dryad.

Forget the elite vanguard; you just obsoleted Isamaru, Hound of Konda!

Isamaru doesn't die to Unsummon or Momentary Blink, but, yeah, I get the sentiment. I wish there was an easy way to test this theory. Maybe the next time I play with a Magic deck, I'll declare a random 1-drop as shuffling back into the deck and see how hazardous it is.

Come to think of it, this is surprisingly close to Phantasmal Bear. That's a 1-mana 2/2 that dies to unsummon, blink, or shock. I was sure this was too good, but maybe not.
