Neat. I was having a hard time figuring out how to express Ibok on a card, and the resourceful mechanic needed a 'boss spell'.

On Ibok's p/t/cc/hexproof: My first thought was 3/3 for {4}{u}. When I thought about the card, I realized it needed to be mythic, not only because it's got a chase ability that works with a large pile of cards, but because I don't want this popping up that often. We've talked about how confusing Resourceful is, and, while I think this effect would be great, it really should only be weilded by people who've played the game for a while and don't mind the headache that comes with keeping track of it.

For a second, there, I thought that maybe Ibok should be {3}{u} for a 3/3... you know, keep him agressive because he's Mythic. Then I realized that, no, that would make him a tournament staple. After all, who would be able to resist slapping down a Batterskull the round after playing Ibok? No, no... he had to be a bad Mythic. But I gave him Hexproof, because if you're going to play with bad Mythics, they should at least stick around.

[This paragraph removed because I'm pretty sure I was wrong. Originally, Ibok gave the ability to artifact spells and permanents... but if that was necessary, the Planechase card that grants Bloodthirst to black, red and green creatures wouldn't make sense.]

On Resourceful: It stacks, I guess. It would be pretty silly if it didn't, and this card was surrounded by a bunch of artifacts that were already resourceful. Unfortunately, Ibok works poorly with resourceful artifacts, since it will only make one additional copy of Seeker Gnats as opposed to a whole extra Chrome Steed. Still, it wouldn't make sense to print Ibok in another block. Oh well. At least Ibok and resourceful artifacts belong in the same theme deck.

Pity that this hoses legendary artifacts. But nonetheless, this is fun.

Works out kinda similar to Mishra, Artificer Prodigy. He's fun - I have a deck built around him. He did nothing in tournaments as I recall, although the triple colours may have something to do with that. But Ibok could probably get away with being 5 mana.

Actually, resourceful will create infinite tokens unless you specify that "When this artifact enters the battlefield, if it's not a token, put a token into the battlefield that's a copy of this artifact."

Yeah, we talked about that when resourceful was first built. Right now "if it's not a token" appears in the rulebook, but doesn't appear in the reminder text for purposes of brevity, and the assumption that most people won't believe a designer would make a keyword mechanic go infinite for the heck of it. I'm changing that, though. I'm pretty sure it isn't worth having to explain myself every time resourceful pops up.

I'm also sad it doesn't hit Legendary Artifacts... especially considering the set it happens to be in. As for the casting cost... I was actually thinking of increasing it by one to make it match Cast Through Time, but I think that card has enough players frustrated. Truth is, Ibok's ability is better than Doubling Season, which only works with a certain subset of cards... Ibok doubles the much larger subset of "all artifacts". Doubling Season doesn't really hit tournament decks... but it comes close. I think Ibok really would see tourney play at 5.

ITYM Parallel Lives, not Doubling Season, right?

And I'm not quite sure why you're so dead set on making your storyline mythic not tournament playable.

Would you like a tournament environment where this guy represented 50% of the environment in a deck that packed a pile of silver bullet artifacts with lots of bounce? I'm pretty sure that that would spell the end of Magic for many players. I could be wrong. I will keep an open mind. If open-ended resourceful doesn't seem to confound mid-level players, then I don't mind shaving {1}.

Also, I do mean Doubling Season. Compare all the tournament level cards that produce tokens and counters to the amount that are artifacts. Remove the cards where doubling counters is not useful or marginal. It's also worth noting that Doubling Season doesn't work with poison counters or suspend. Doubling Season is still stellar... but I'd rather have double artifacts.

Oh, you don't test how dangerous a card is by printing the weaker version. Removed {1} and Hexproof. We'll see just what kind of brokenness one can do with this thing, and if normal tourney decks can properly respond. I shall also have to work to remove a few 'Legendary' lines from some artifacts to make this more relavent, when possible. I also need to make sure there are a number of good 6s and 5s. Bolivar's Warhammer would have been a really good drop, but I can't remove the Legendary status from that card without removing the point of the card existing. Landing Monument wouldn't even go in the same deck with Ibok anyway... actually, it's a pretty good answer to Ibok shenanigans... and, like, half the set at this rate.
