Hahaha. I had wondered when I saw the name whether there was anything you could possibly do to make Lightning Helix any better. This manages the interesting achievement of being strictly better than the original, but also significantly less cool due to losing the "gold=awesome" factor and gaining the kooky-looking off-colour mana symbol instead.
Lightning Helix is just okay. But I have limited space for gold. Gold restricts a lot during drafting, so they need to be Geist of Saint Traft-awesome (so that you're inclined to play blue if you are already playing white or so that it gets to the one who commited to white-blue).
Multicolor-friendly cards are welcome, though, because they pull you but you can still play them.
In this particular case, it's good to have redundant burn spells.
