It seems weird that the ability triggers even if it doesn't do anything because the creature is already monstrous.

The reminder text says three +1/+1 counters but the variable is 2.

Could easily say "if you have five or more cards in hand and this creature isn't monstrous", but then again that would be kinda redundant.

An intervening if-clause check would be an improvement though.
