I think you're probably free to put it in whatever colours you like. I'd suggest something like white/blue/green can add charge counters, black/red can remove them. But you could do it however you like.

Added Flash and recosted to make ETB ability interesting. Secondary motive: I'm considering removing Flash from one of the Blue places I have it.
