Random Generator gave me Callow Jushi and Verdant Catacombs, and COMPLETELY REEDITING CARD BEFORE ANYONE SEES IT AND THEREFORE EDITING COMMENT. Originally, I mentioned that I'm pretty sure I screwed up and explained what was wrong, then rolled around in my own self-pity before saying that I'd come back tomorrow to make a better version. Instead, I'm just going to take the good part of this card and make it a common. There. Got this off my chest, so now I can go make the card I should have made tomorrow.
...Did you still mean for this to have type "Land"? If so, you'll need to add the Tribal type - or in fact Creature, since it has P/T. But I'd guess you just meant for this to be a Creature.
Ah, yes. It was bad version of this card was originally a land with what we see, except it added a mana to your mana pool, which just seemed too much weirdness for not enough payoff. I originally had a non-basic that didn't do anything but fetch basic lands when you cast Kobolds, but decided that that was mind numbingly broken. It was like Turning your Kobolds into 0/1s that come into play with a Mox Saphire. I want to make Kobolds good, but not by making abusive fast mana combos.
Oh, yes, and it still needs to be a creature. Done.
What does this have to do with Verdant Catacombs?
I saw the version of this where it had Savage Lands in addition. Was that before or after the "Every Kobold fetches a land"?
Wow, Dude1818, you caught this card in a very small gap of about 15 minutes.
The quick answer is that it has nothing to do with Verdant Catacombs. I forgot, today, that I was supposed come back at this and make it a different card. Instead, I mysteriously made the card live in Alpha... probably because I just want more kobolds. It shouldn't be, though. I don't mind this card being tossed in if I feel like I need one more Kobold, but a card that isn't really a mashup shouldn't be what I'm building a set around. Sending it back.
The Savage Lands version came after the fetchland version. The kobolds are mostly popping up in those colors, so I added red. Again, I see a creature type and I force to Kobolds. Sometimes, that's a good idea... this time, the card that will be made is bound to be confusing enough. I don't need to be adding any new elements.
