i agree that this card fits the thrust of the deck & the mechanic well, but that doesn't change the fact that in its current iteration it has problems: difficulty interacting with wider lifegain cards & an activated ability that reads poorly because of its high cost
if the card isn't parasitic that's a debate about semantic borders; the card still does very little to encourage synergy beyond this one mechanic when it could do a whole lot more with a few small tweaks
We need lots of token makers because the deck needs to generate a lot of creatures. Normally I might agree that it's parasitic, except it can create a trigger. The idea is to have cards that create a pray trigger and then that activates their ability, but you also get everything else's triggered ability as well. This builds the feel of needing a community as opposed to science sacrificing their fellows for progress.
having two enchantment token generators at uncommon and rare might be a bit too close for comfort
also i'm not really ecstatic about the ability being costed rather than triggered. obviously when you cost pray you have to cost it highly, so it doesn't exactly look amazing. i think it'd make more sense to trigger it whenever a nontoken creature you control dies or something akin to that level of frequency, maybe a bit more
also, triggering the token generation specifically off pray is highly parasitic. if the goal here is to design something that WotC would approve of, then it should trigger off any life gain and you should create a DD environment where non-Pray lifegain is minimal. on the other hand if the design is intended to be completely self-contained then it frees you up to make other lifegain cards (although i don't imagine you'll be making too many of those anyway)
the payoff on this card is pretty low. can't they get something cooler, like 2/2 knights with first strike?
the pray ability has to go. doesn't add anything to the flavour of the card, easy to forget and the (necessary) high activation cost makes it read really poorly.
my advice is leave the card as a pacifism for now and wait to see how the rest of the deck takes shape.
what's the complexity scope here? do we want french vanilla cards in the decks?
suggested edit:
2W
~ ETBs with a +1/+1 counter on it.
Remove a +1/+1 counter from ~: Pray.
2/1
may be too complicated depending on how NWO you want to go but this seems like a possible fix to me. at the same time my set's all about counters, so i might just be skewed too far in that direction when i think of ideas
I'm really happy with the revamping so far. I'm looking forward to more.
Contesting Polyform.
Effects like this have been expanded to include planeswalkers these days — see Norn's Annex.
Contested by Angel Redeemer
I'm a fan of this card.
While this is neat, the comparison card at this card is Foresee. Very different power levels there.
Edit: This isn't to say I don't like it though. It's definitely amusing
Found the box. Will do in the future.
Contesting RG02. The Green Angel and RG05 are trying to occupy the same space, and I think we need more ramp in our deck full of fatties and 7 cost activated abilities.
4 mana Sorcery seems right since I think the closest comparison is Foresee.
I don't think I would have been down with card without the flavor text, but I do like it. Since the theme is science its probably best that this isn't actually tied to artifacts directly.
Made this an artifact creature. As just a regular creature it can't activate its own ability, which is a bit weird.
Put this back to an empty slot
Charlie please be sure to include what changes yu make when you edit cards.
Yes the alt win ability is important.
As for why I want a build around, its because duel decks should have "hooks" that grab a new player's attention and make them want to edit the deck to work around that direction.
Some players enjoy deckbuilding to a large degree and so even though this is less likely with a custom deck its still nice to hit that niche audience especially when its already doing good things for the card set.
removing from set skeleton
Yeh no reprints please
Rebuilt. Now a giant finisher.
That was supposed to be menace, but menace isn't in white. Scrubbing and rebuilding.
Beyond that, intimidate is defunct. This would be menace, but menace isn't allowed in white's pie except for extenuating circumstances.
Contesting Tithe Valkerie for smaller angel slot.
White is really not intimidatey. Especially at common.
Spectral Rider is all there is I believe.
Also a bit too similar to (((Akroma's Chosen)))
