I was briefly worried about some degenerate combo (which is why I upped the cost to 2), but given that the card costs 5 I don't think it will do anything in a specific format that other things don't already do better. Of course, if there is any glaring oversight in-block, please do let me know.
Yeah, this seems fine to me even if it could sacrifice Nightmares. Probably better this way so it needs a bit more work to go silly with Warstorm Surge or whatever.
Static pump is honestly even less elegant (and probably too aggressive on a common), so expect the card to change into something fairly different (once I think of something).
It appears I more or less called M14's Savage Summoning... (And now I have to make another rare. Great.)

Probably has some horrendous infinite combo invoked by changing the type of the nightmares; but even then probably not unfair.

comments on new ability welcome (esp. regarding appropriateness at common)
Especially since battle cry was a R/W mechanic.
Eh, the oriflammes were decent and red feeling cards. Albeit uncommon.
I don't see a problem with a red battlecry creature. (Probably unkeyworded, or at least with reminder text.) But this way is fine too.

stupid battle cry
Dohhhh
Can't believe I forgot that battle cry was an entire mechanic and everything.
