3 loyalty -> 2 loyalty. A little easier to deal with the turn it comes down.
Redesigned abilities.
Yeah, there's only so much that can be done with Artificer-type characters... I think I'll change this to be a little more similar to Master Transmuter.
Adjusted first ability to be passive. Changed last ability to be more "ultimate". Probably not a good ultimate though.
> In regards to affinity for things not on the battlefield, it doesn't work based on how the rules are currently written. The template is This spell costs
less to cast for each [THING] you control., and it only counts stuff on the battlefield. Which is a shame.
I'm pretty certain you could just say that the affinity's rules were to be expanded to include things other than stuff you specifically control. Like, think in terms of Petrified Wood-Kin or whatever.
I feel like forcing planeswalkers to have an ultimate really limits the amount of design space they have, so I'm playing around with that. Your concern is noted - I'll try out something different for Elspeth and Tezzeret, but I think I like Garruk where he is right now, as a reverse-Sarkhan the Mad.
Yeah, that's my plan for the future (especially since Multiverse doesn't use the full art frame for PW cards). I'm just on a different computer than my normal computer so I was sourcing images from elsewhere.
Added "non-Demon". Added minor lifegain clause.
Yeah, the initial thought was "Return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield, except it loses all abilities." That neither works in the rules cleanly or is suitable for a Core Set. I might just change this to a Raise Dead variant.

I might bump this to

, but since I haven't really started filling out the set skeleton yet, this'll probably be a Raise Dead or a Shamble Back. It's a damn shame that Magic chose to use Zombies instead of skeletons, because I like skeletons much more aesthetically.
Maybe make it "sacrifice all but one non-Demon creature" like the original Rakdos? It also makes the card feel more Mythic.
That 'theme' seems like it would be way too elusive for hardly anyone to notice. It also doesn't help that much with how easy it is to remember. I call 'gimmicks' on it.
Affinity for Skeletons? I know you want to use mono colour creatures in this set but this card looks its going to be 2-3 mana most of the time, making it severely undercosted. It should at least have a double black/triple casting cost to limit the cost reduction danger...
Well, my other plan for this was to have 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 referenced in a minor change. Changing the P/T to 3/2, setting your life total to 1. But that might be too punishing and turns off all the "fun" Doomsday combos that use Gitaxian Probe.
I find the name too similar to Garruk, Primal Hunter.
Really cool art. Speaking of which... Linking straight to the sources can be a bit troublesome if the original source is a huge image. Also, you have no control whatsoever if the link changes or if the uploader just removes that from their gallery. For those reasons, I usually make the MSE mockup (a consequence of keeping up-to-date MSE design files), rightclick-copy the image of the card render from the MSE onto clipboard of some photo editor (irfanview for example), save it, and then upload it to my own specific imgur album. Now the images are automatically cropped the right way, not too large, and much more in my control. Say, I can just even disable / make private the album if I suddenly see the images as obtrusive or whatever for example.
Uh yeah, to me, the Skelly flavor here pretty much demands that it would get a p/t buff of some kind (like a -1/-1 counter). That's hardly elegant though.
In Woodland Protector I get that there's some flavor for the affinity ability (it's a 'protector' after all), but here I just don't see any. I think something like "affinity for creature cards in your graveyard" would be better.
Reminds me of Archfiend of Depravity and Reiver Demon - there are probably more similar cards, but I can't think of any right now.
It's okay, but I find it just a little bit short of warranting the mythic rarity. Not fascinating/timmiesh enough IMO.
I think it's cool. Exiling your library as a drawback is already a drawback of such magnitude that losing life isn't really even necessary.
While you would lose some reference value perhaps (how much that matters for a core set is questionably), I would consider going for 4CMC, "... for four cards...", and making it a 4/4. It becomes easier to remember its effect precisely and hence it will stick out more - becoming indeed more memorable and iconic. 4 for/four (4) 4. 4 times 4. 444 or 4444.
Considering that Doomsday is traditionally a combo machine, I don't think that how large the creature exactly is even matters that much. If you wanna go for some crazy combo right off the bat, you should sac it asap anyway.
What's with the lack of ultimates? Liliana has one, and Tezzeret's last ability could certainly be seen as one. Chandra not so much, but still they scale at least. This, and especially Garruk, lose a lot of that mythic planeswalker 'ooomph' by not having anything to build up to. They don't 'hype' themselves up in text (preview) or in gameplay and worse of all, they kinda feel like rares - not mythics.
Obviously the most controversial card of the set as a 1-drop mana dork :)
That 'ultimate' is the exact same ability as in Tezzeret the Seeker...
The first ability doesn't IMO play well into Liliana's character as far as I know. It makes her seem like a sadist that will just kill creatures, especially her own it seems, for sport. Like a serial murderer or something. I might be over thinking it...
A bit like Garruk, Apex Predator and Garruk Relentless's front side, but hopefully it works.
2nd -X is probably much better than the first late-game. Kind of want to rebalance the 2nd -X as -XX, but that might be a little too complicated.
Pretty generic design.
usually doesn't get land destruction unless its mass destruction, but I figure land-replacement (like Ghost Quarter) should be fine. Especially since its restricted to tapped-only, which is something that
usually gets on creature removal.
Her -1 is worse than Elspeth Tirel's -1 because her +1 is arguably better. I think. I'm trying to avoid planeswalkers that are straight value engines.
I'll probably have to adjust this later, but it should do for now. Not sure if I should support Zombie tribal or just have a bunch of incidental zombies lying around.
Most planeswalkers in this set will be non-traditional.
Current lineup is planned to be:
Elspeth, Tezzeret, Liliana, Chandra, Garruk
