Usually it'd be a Zombie, but I like the art.
Doomsday, trading being on-demand (without a sac outlet) and losing half of your life for +1
and on a death trigger. Might be too strong, but doomsday combos are pretty hard without Laboratory Maniac and Tendrils of Agony, so I think it's okay.
This type of effect is found in
, but it feels suitably black when put on a creature.
Not sure the ETB version works so that you can get two creatures - "each player sacrifices all but one other creature" makes it seem like you sacrifice this no matter what.
More generic cards for a simple core set.

will generally have gentler Affinity for Blue Creature costs. Other ones will be slightly overcosted. This is trading off the extra toughness from Havenwood Wurm for Affinity, which is, I assume, a decent tradeoff.
Creatures with affinity won't be too complicated, though I'll try to make it about as complicated as most core sets. Hopefully with more playables on average in draft, though.
Since I'm more likely to find art I like in a flavor-neutral setting, I'm doing a Core Set.

True to Wizards' current design philosophy, creatures are the central focus of the set. In addition, there is an increased emphasis on monocolor decks and clearly defined color pie philosophy.
