Okay, I hear you on that. I'm not sure what other limitations can be imposed, except maybe "enters tapped?" And even then I'm not sure that'll make a huge difference.

It used to be that any land could be converted into a 2 CMC artifact, but modern design conventions generally don't allow mana rocks to cost less than {3} without some kind of hoop to jump through.
