Given how important combat tricks are in the format, I suspect this will be a lot better than it should. If so, I might remove the protection clause.

I would lose the other ability unless you make it relevant to the rest mechanically e. g. "Each spell [...] costs {2} more to cast unless its controller has card with the same name in their hand."
