Just want to mention that the rules allow for forcing this and any mana ability with a random outcome is broken - in the sense that its behavior is glitched. Also this kind of randomness is wildly unpopular due to the terrible actual gameplay.
Unique dual lands are not good enough?
The behaviour seems fixable; we can assume S:tC has sensible rules.
I kinda like this idea personally. I know it won't appeal to everyone; but "Hey, it's either the right colour, or you can get more but it's a risk..." is loverly.
Sadly, it's strong. Because this always produces
when you don't care about colour. Which is good because it meets the "All upside random is good" criteria; but bad because it removes tension and is, well, really freakin good. Why would I not run a full suite of 20 of these, just for the colourless?
(Wait, what did we call mana? Supply?)
@SecretInfiltrator: 'Unique' is my terminology that allows me to get around having Supertypes, which I personally find aesthetically / visually unpleasing. Cards with 'Unique' basically follow 'the legendary rule'. Also, dual lands are good, but since the mana curve for S:tC is so much higher, most of the Planets are capable of producing more mana (fuel) than usual for a price.
@Vitenka: You can't run 20 of these, as the 4-of rule still applies. The word 'Unique' is my personal lingo to get around the 'Legendary' and 'Basic' supertypes, which I dislike. I also changed the terms regarding 'mana' (fuel) and 'pool' (reserves). See my other comment about S:tC having a higher mana curve than M:tG.
