I have little issue with using existing cardnames on custom designs and indeed a whole custom card set that uses them predominantly.

Pretend I made this for such a set and never forgot about Contamination.

Huh. That's pretty neat. This seems like it would be pretty strong to drop on opponent's first land when you are going second. As a top deck or even as a mid game cards it does kind of stink. It's not like it's likely going to stop a creature from attacking.

Compared to Contaminated Ground, what are the actual benefits of this design? Loss of 2 life is twice as likely to be relevant. The flexibility this cards offers doesn't seem to offer that much when you start thinking about it. Maybe it could stop some infinite artifact-untapping shenanigan. Eh. It is elegant though.

As for the name, how about just "Taint"?
