Why has it
in the mana cost?
Omnath, Locus of Mana + (Nefarious) Lich + Vernal Bloom? In Mirari's Wake the anthem is likely the
part (although it's also a bit of
).
For the same reason Lich was almost colorshifted into white in Planar Chaos and we eventually got Phyrexian Unlife: It makes conceptual sense for an enchantment that prolongs your existence by changing the fundamental way your life total works.
It also happens to fit with the white-black-green faction philosophy I was building towards with the accompanying cards.
