Hmm. Idk about Mythic for this. If it's going to be mythic it might as well cast Demonic Tutor not Diabolic Tutor. Also, not sure about the life loss or the discard two cards. But I like the idea. Cool card. :D

You know, I chose {2}{b}{b} over {1}{b} mostly because I felt more players would recognize Diabloic Tutor's cost over Demonic Tutor's cost. The 6/6, lose two life was meant to parallel Grinning Demon (The first demon in Magic since the type was considered worth the controversy). It could have easily been the other cost... but still, I like the tension of this card. If you opt for a card that will blow up the board (instead of a utility card for right now), it will probably be too expensive to cast after you pay the activation. Meanwhile, your life total is grinding down...

I don't know. I know this card could be more powerful, but these cards were meant for drafting, not for constructed. As it stands, I could make this a 4/4 and discard your hand, and I would still expect the card to be first picked on many occasions.

Personally, I think Wizards makes Mythics too good. They shouldn't be better than the rares, but they are consistently making them so because people expect them to be. It's an unhealthy attitude, since it creates expensive standard formats and wrecks leagues (I know... I've been running a league for over 3 years. Nothing says, "maybe we should play something else" than the player with the Massacre Wurm winning every week for 6 weeks running.)

If I was to change anything, I'd probably ease up on the color requirement, since the card does have enough hoops to jump through. It's tough, though. The card is dripping black... it just feels like it wants 3BBB, even if it makes it worse.

Comparing Fauna Shaman to Eladamri's Call is good as a very rough estimate of what the ability is worth. At the very least, two cards seems "two" much.

Mmm. But Fauna Shaman requires discarding creatures for creatures, and Eladamri's Call only fetches creatures. That's why these cards have cheaper costs. I think the big problem here is that people see "discard two cards" and they think "eww... that's card disadvantage. I don't want to do that!" which is kind of funny, since the card you pull out of your deck will probably result in card advantage when you are done (Wrath of God, Control Magic, Wildfire, Opportunity... etc...).

But I digress. As I posted before, the card is intended for drafting and drafting only. We shouldn't be comparing the card to Constructed Giants... the real question for my set is "Is this better than your average uncommon? Would you pull this card if you were drafting and you opened a pack of 15?". Or, in other words, if the other best card in your deck was a Vampire Nighthawk, would you take the Nighthawk, or this?

Changed casting cost to {4}{b}{b} to help a little and switched "Lose two life" to "Hellbent - Maybe you lost two life". I've been thinking of ways of making this card sleeker without sacrificing flavor, and the Hellbent trick helps some... since Hellbent is a theme in 20XD6, and nothing gets more Hellish than a demon. Still it is tough to change his stats: There's a reason why his Power, Toughness and Casting Cost feel right at 6,6,6. And the discard two cards thing can't be changed, because he belongs to a cycle (plus, I still think switching two cards for any card in your deck is doubleplusgood), and I prefer Diabolic Tutor's activation. I think, in the end, it isn't worth sacrificing any more flavor to make this card more powercreepy. Still, I like the addition of Hellbent.
