Don't tokens not on the battlefield cease to exist? This seems like you would need a large tweak to the rules for this work.
I've mentioned this on other pages, but I'll probably have to mention it for every one of these cards. That's cool. I don't mind talking alot.
No, this does not work with the current rules. But, yes, this is cool. I've gotten a lot of comments along the lines of "This is neat, but the rule don't..". That's fine. The Comprehensive Rulebook has a new rule for 20XX that talks about token instants. It states that token instants can only exist in your hand and on the stack. Also, the token instants in your hand are always open knowledge to your opponent. On the first day we draft 20XD6, I plan to announce this to everyone... that and go over how 'widgets' work, because the rares don't have reminder text.
Hmm, maybe I should make it easier for people to make a comment explaining "This is how this cycle works..." and have it appear on each card in the cycle.
I do love the Soothe / Grow / etc cycle of token instants, though. It's an awesome mechanic.
It's an idea... but I'm not sure if it would be one of those gadgets that you keep in the garage because it plays a specific function, but you never take out because you kind of forget you have it.
In the future, I'll know better to add a comment to every card with said wacky mechanic. Copy and Paste can save a lot of people a lot of time. I do like to hear people's responses, and I do like to hear people's first reaction to a card. But cards like this often evoke a response of "I'm trying to be helpful... I don't think you understand how the rules work." which is perfectly fair. I'd probably do the same thing if I had no warning.
