This seems kind of lackluster for a planeswalker, while still being powerful. Let's think about Hoid's known abilities:
Storytelling: Drawing cards? Scrying? Possibly Illusion creation from the story he tells to Kal where Kal is able to imagine it perfectly in his head?
Rioting/Soothing for sure and possible full Mistborn abilities: Tapping/Untapping creatures or Act of Treasoning them?
Worldhopping: Transforming to a walker, I guess. Also, this needs to be able to go back to creature form. How's this, acting on those three ideas:
Hoid, the Drifter
Planeswalker - Hoid
+1: Discard a card, then draw a card. Exile Hoid, the Drifter, then return it to the battlefield transformed.
-2: Gain control of target creature until end of turn. Untap it. It gains haste until end of turn.
-6: You get an emblem with, "Whenever you cast a spell, exile the top two cards of your library. For each one that shares a color with that spell, put a 2/2 blue Illusion creature token onto the battlefield. Until end of turn, you may play those cards."
Um, I don't think we can have the +1 as his transform ability. What happens to his loyalty when he transforms back into a creature? The Origins walkers don't have to deal with this, since they only transform one way, but I'm not sure how that would work. Can a creature have loyalty counters on it?
Oh you're right. It can have loyalty as a creature, but they'll disappear when it exiles. Maybe take that off the +1 and make it a separate 0 ability?
Sure. That would work.
Edit: Regarding the type, Hoid was "Once human, but has changed a lot since thin. It's complicated." I figured we could do something like Arcanis with him.
Okay, that works.
Edit: Crap, four abilities is a formatting nightmare. Trying the transform thing on the middle ability, if we figure out how to playtest we can see how that will work out.
Edit 2: Switched it back to first ability, but trying out optional. Does that work for you?
Yes, this works.
