Right, equipment is an interesting use of Jury-Rig.

I wonder if it could be something like "experiment", where "successful" experiment means drawing a card?

A successful experiment is one where it works and you get the thing. You still learn from an unsuccessful experiment (i.e. Draw a card), but it's not succeeding at what you intended.

A useful experiment is one where you learn. Doesn't have to be successful to be useful, but it does have to be useful to be successful.
