Very nice! Goldnight Commander / Valor in Akros + Doomwake Giant = a very flavourful and exciting mythic.
Having played against Daxos the Returned Commander decks I know how good Doomwake Giant can be in a dedicated deck, so I'm a bit intimidated to face against this in a dedicated enchantment deck... but it's a creature, it can be killed, it's fine.
Plus, the doomwake effect at least doesn't trigger off of itself. And it's also a six-drop in two colors...
Incidentally, this card was actually a bottom-up design -- I wanted a WB legend that synergized with (((Eidolon of Pearls))) (A rare which will probably be moved to the second set). Can you guess why?
Why would Elspeth have flying?
She gives it to creatures in most of her cards, so I thought it appropriate.
Huh. I guess you're right. Would have been a useful power to have during the Theros block novel.
And the Elspeth from Theros block is the only one that doesn't give flying. Probably not a coincidence...
Her emblem does... It's SoM Elspeth that doesn't.
