I know Dragons aren't "a thing" in Archester, but it feels weird have a Drake in {r}. Yeah it can happen, looking at you >_> Sewn-Eye Drake, but drakes don't feel {r}.

Sewn-eye was primarily a black zombie drake. Agree this sort of common fliers are improper for red. Recommending an Impetuous Sunchaser reprint.

What about an Imp? A la Blistering Dieflyn.

As for red drakes, Desert Drake, Canyon Drake, etc. There is a total of 6 red drakes (+ the multicolored Sewn-Eye Drake)

Impetuous Sunchaser and First Prototype would compete for the "must attack each turn" common.

I was suggesting the sunchaser if people believe the set absolutely requires a common red flying creature. Given the abundance of thopters, I find that highly dubious.

Also, I didn't comment on it, but putting +1/+1 on other creatures (as opposed to itself) is not very red nowadays (It's a very Green/White effect). Only one card (Mark of Mutiny) seems to have done so since Lorwyn.

Impetuous Sunchaser would be really, really bad in a thopter format. Plus we're making red a thopter color anyway. I feel like red's flying is covered.

I agree that the Thopter theme covers the "tiny red flier" part of the set. Impetuous Sunchaser worked really well in Theros because of the "build-'em-big" theme that was going on in Theros but we don't have a similar theme outside of Artifacts here in Archester. I don't think Impetuous Sunchaser is a great fit for the set in its current form.

I just had an idea. What if we bump this to Rare and made it...

Greater Drakling {4}{r}{r}
Creature - Dragon [Rare]
Exploit, Exploit, Exploit
{r}: ~ gets +1/+0 until end of turn.
When ~ exploits a creature, ~ deals X damage target creature, where X is the number of creatures exploited this turn.
5/5

Edit: yes I know dragons aren't a "thing" in archester, you get my point. :p

At that point, it's not a drakling, it's a Drake, Raptor. I feel like Firebreathing and Exploit on the same card is just too much. But the triple Exploit thing could be a good idea. Probably even make the ability of the Drake as "When a creature is exploited by a creature you control, that creatures deals X damage to target creature, where X is the number of creatures exploited this turn." But that ability would probably be alone with Exploit on whatever card would have it.

Edit: No, probably not a good idea to word it like that and have it as a lord. (Why? It works like Zuberas right now.)

"Whenever a creature you control is exploited, ~ deals damage to target creature or player equal to the number of creature that have been exploited this turn"

Still, I'd rather a flat rate instead, because the multiple exploit thing is gonna be a HUGE source of rule confusion when a flat 2 damage rate results in the same global amount of damage for three exploits!

Circeus, as it stands right now, it checks for damage at resolution. (Just like Zuberas did) So exploiting once would give 1, 2 times gives 4, and 3 gives off 9 damage. (And that was why Zuberas were weird.)

@Volvary O_o. I wasn't expecting that kind of damage output, Circeus' version was what I intended. (eg. 1,2,3 sort of like Cone of Flame.) It just turns out that I'm just a little rusty at card templating. :p

first time reading the card, I thought "Nine damage is way too much!!!". Now, I kind of like this at 2 fixed damage per exploit. No fire breath needed.

I think 2 damage flat on the lord template would be the best. That way we can push it at uncommon only.
