This requires you to pick the second target when you cast it, not when the creature dies. I think that's be too confusing.

I love the idea, but does anyone ever cast arc trail so the 2 damage goes to a creature and DOESN'T kill it? I mean, theoretically that could be useful, but it seems like almost always you'll cast it when you can kill at least one thing with it. In which case, the "when that creature dies" doesn't really do much.

Could arc trail be instant if it only hit creatures? I'm inclined to think that's still too good, a 2-for-1 is when it's really good anyway, but I don't really know.

Aye. If they made Arc Trail into an instant it should cost more, not less.

This is a variant of Searing Blood, not Arc Trail. The latter can go to the face, but neither the former nor my card can.

Arc Trail is a removal spell. Searing Blood is a burn spell. This is much closer to the former.
