A version of Relic Barrier that's more useful against connectors and equipment. "You may" tap the artifact because if it's got a bunch of connectors on it, you may not want to trigger its "becomes tapped" abilities!

It does have the downside that I can imagine the following sequence...

A: I cast Equipment of Awesomeness. (Chromer Battlegear, let's say.)
B: Okay, but I use Samoflange Overloader on it once it resolves.
A: But I want to equip it first! Which of us gets to do that first?

...Do you know? I do, but I suspect many people won't.

Heh nice WoW reference - given the inspiration the flavour text could be "Look a spinny thing...but what does it DO?..duh, it SPINS" :-)

flavour text

*bleep* It's that thing! That's blasted samo thing again! You want me to say it? Yes!

Well, I know, but I'm not saying because it is a convoluted response.

This might be cleaner if it just read "Target artifact loses all activated abilities until end of turn." I think a tad more people may use it correctly then.

Hmm. It seems the same to me, but if you think it'd be clearer, I could certainly make that change.

Maybe you're right. I'd like to believe that a template that's closer to how Snakeform operates would confuse less people, but, after everything is said and done, doesn't know the rules is still doesn't know the rules.
