Simultaneously solves several Terran problems: Lack of card drawing, additional mana source, and significant need to bump up utility of 2/2s for 3. Replaces (((Terran Tech Lab))), which wasn't all that good.

I know this is very strong and would potentially warp any kind of limited environment it's in. But eh.

Before:

Covert Ops {3}
Artifact [r]
{t}: Add {c} to your mana pool.
Whenever a face-down creature you control deals combat damage to a player, draw a card.

  • Interchanged rarities with Battlecruiser.
  • Flavor of previous card has always been weird. A building that's an artifact? Why does it tap for mana? Not in line with anything else in the set.
  • Still need to keep a card like this to improve red/white card draw.
  • Cost for balancing, but patterend after Mask of Memory. (though I do believe the latter is undercosted)

Looks fine. Looks pretty wacky in most sets, but with the Terran Switch mechanic it's pretty cool. Slightly weird that when this is on a Wraith, you can Switch it to toggle between an evasion ability and a better evasion ability.

"Equip 2" wants to be "Equip {2}". (I'd be happy to apply that kind of proofreading/templating update myself, but only if the cardset owner explicitly gives me the go-ahead.)

Made even more narrow, but plays much better. You want a card draw machine? You keep that guy face down. Before it was being used too much to sneak Siege Tanks in for 5 to the face. AND the guy still draws.

find another card for this. Avoid equipment for beginners

This is another artifact that seems like it should require blue mana if anything.

Drawing cards? Blue. Making creatures unblockable? Blue.

Now, it could be assumed that face-down creatures are 2/2 and red does have a slice of the pie there where it grants "unblockability" to creatures with 2 or less power. So, I guess it's fine-ish?

There seems to be a typo in the second ability:

> Target face-down creature with can't be blocked this turn.

I'd say the first ability reminds me of Seer's Sundial. Just because blue is the best at card draw, doesn't mean there aren't ways of giving to other colors. This looks fine

The reason why Seer's Sundial (a {g}{u} effect btw) exists is because artifacts can do whatever heck they want from "exile all permanents" to "draw seven cards" to any keyword you can think of. {c} = {1} when it comes to colorless cards.

However, for the colors themselves, the official line still is that they're supposed adhere to the color pie.

Mm, it would be redder to put "Target creature cannot block face down creatures this turn" or even "Creatures cannot block face-down creatures this turn" (though the latter would really want to be a sacrifice, not an every-turn ability)

For the second ability, I templated the unblockability to the "power 2 or less." of red. I realize I could just actually use that outright. Until of course my playtesters die from a Marine + Stimpack combo and complain. Haha.

For the first ability, I had the same line of thinking as dude1818. There is precedent for 'if this thing happens, pay X. If you do, draw a card'. See Seer's Sundial, Lifecrafter's Bestiary, Mind's Eye. If needed, I'll upshift this to rare.

I'm keeping this because Terran, being stuck in RW, needs some long term engines to keep card flow going.

If you do make it "power two or less," you let players have the fun moment of realizing "oh hey morphs do work"

I can't really speak for artifacts since they are pretty much a "lost cause" in my eyes (bestiary requires {g} though, where drawing cards off creatures makes sense) ...

> "I'm keeping this because Terran, being stuck in {r}{w}, needs some long term engines to keep card flow going."

... but undermining the color combination's main weakness seems like a rather questionable goal + it's not like there aren't tools within the colors to do that strictly speaking - {r}'s Act on Impulse drawing and rummaging (including wheel of fortune effects of various sizes than favor being hellbent - ie Dangerous Wager) should be good enough - for an aggressive deck at least.

upshift to rare. Can't change the latter to power 2 or less causes a lot of gameplay problems
