Random Generator gave me Amrou Kithkin and Saproling. This is what I got, though, I'm not really impressed with myself. I get the impression that I could do better. I may give this another shot tomorrow.

Still, I like the idea of a green creature that can only be blocked by that which is unnatural. Wonder why I haven't seen that before...

Mainly because green gets "I plough through the unnatural and destroy it utterly", I think.

I would expect green to get "Can't be blocked by artifact creatures," not the other way around.

Heh, that's an interesting point Dude. I can see it both ways. I was kind of imagining a creature flitting through the woods, avoiding all the creatures, but incapable of dodging an unthinking Wall of Spears. A creature that just ignores the wall, or plows through walls seems green too.

Better than my first pass. At lest now the card feels like it's doing it's own thing, instead of just being a Thallid in Kithkin clothes.

I switched over to dude's suggestion, because it felt more right for the Saprolings to ignore artifact, then ignore non-artifacts. Not sure why.

Also, I kind of wish I didn't have to steal this activated ability from Jade Mage/Selesnya Guildmage. I can't really think of another way to do it without getting too clever for what the card needs, though.

Hmm... is this powerful enough for rare? I'm not sure what dials I should adjust to get there. Maybe flip back to 1/1s can't be blocked by non-artifact creatures?

Also, how much would I betray the card by using Elf tokens? Because Mashup: Alpha has a tribal Elf theme running...

Heeee. This concept I like.

I agree the power is a little low for rare. "Nonartifact creatures" would be better.

I think it could be Elves just fine.

Solved the problem. The 1/1s now can't be blocked by non-green creatures. That keeps both flavors intact, and makes the card a potential punch in the gut.
